As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I'll be making a tutorial on how to make a vertical photo tutorial to get a lot of "repins" and "likes" in Pinterest.
After being a Pinterest addict and creating my boards and pins, I noticed that the pins with most number of "repins" and "likes" were the ones that showed the tutorial in one long vertical image. Tried to search the web for a tutorial but nada! So I decided to experiment a bit and the image came out good, not bad for a first try :)
So now I'm sharing with you other Pinterest addicts like me how I did it and hope to see your works on the boards!
***Some notes before we start:
You have got to have a basic knowledge of Photoshop and of course you should have Photoshop installed in your computer.
You have already uploaded your images in your computer and have arranged them chronologically.
You have sized all your images at width of 550 pixels and height of 554 pixels (almost square shape).
So let's begin...
1. Open Photoshop and create a new file
Click on File then New |
2. A pop-up window would appear, click on the drop-down list for
Preset sizes
3. On the drop-down list, choose Custom
4. Then change the width to 3.5 inches and the height to 20 inches.
Click OK.
5. Your canvass will look like this. You may opt to zoom in/ zoom
out to view comfortably.
6. Minimize first your canvass and open all of the images you
would be adding to your canvass.
Make sure all your images are sized at 550 x 554 pixels |
7. Now click on Window, then Documents, then Cascade.
8. Your images will now be arranged one on top of the other. Make
sure that the topmost image is your canvass.
9. Next, arrange your images in a way that some parts of the images
are peaking behind your canvass. The reason for this is because
you have to drag the images to your canvass in order to add
them.
Drag your images by left-clicking without releasing, then drag and release on top of the canvass |
10. Continue adding your images in a chronological order so that
the reader could follow the steps visually.
Notice that whenever you drag an image to the canvass, a new layer is automatically created |
11. When you're done adding the images, click on Layer then
Flatten Image. Notice that all the layers will be gone and only
Background will appear as the only layer. Crop the canvass to
remove any extra spaces of the canvass (Use the Rectangle
Marquee Tool to select the area you want to crop then the Crop
Tool both found at the left side toolbar).
12. This is how your vertical photo tutorial should look like:
Tutorial of Eight-Point Origami Star |
13. After creating your blog post, pin this image into your Pinterest
account and voila! Watch the repins and likes grow!
Repinned on my board |
After 1 minute, 1 like and 2 repins! |
After 3 minutes, 2 likes and 8 repins! |
And in barely a day: 5 likes and 19 repins! |
Hope I helped you in making a vertical photo tutorial for your Pinterest as well as drive some traffic into your blog.
If you need any help about this, just drop me a note here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Would also appreciate you repinning this onto your board :)
Happy Pinning!
Nice - i made a sequence of photos (for my cooking board on Pinterest) and enumerated them for my pinterest board before I realized a vertical photo would have served the task much better. Thanks. I am new to Pinterest, but enjoy it a lot (http://pinterest.com/tomarenko/).
