I'm a believer!
Saw Food.com's Tub and Shower Magic Recipe in Pinterest and got intrigued by it especially when I have almost tried every cleaning agent there is in the market to get rid AND prevent those stubborn soap scum that builds up on the shower tiles.
I tried it using Jill of Onegoodthingbyjillee.com's recipe but with some tweaking:
Since Dawn is unavailable locally, I used the nearest thing I could find which is Joy dish-washing liquid and I only used 6oz of it instead of the 1:1 ratio in the original recipe because according to Jill the dish-washing soap created so much foam that she had to doubly rinse it off from the shower.
So here are the photos to show you the results. Hey, it took a lot of courage to show my dirty bathroom so cut me some slack for the poor quality of the images!
After spraying the floor and the walls, I let the mixture stand for over an hour. Although the smell wasn't as powerful as Jill described it, I still had to leave the door open to let the odor out.
Even the grout was scum-free! There was no powder residue and the tiles were not slippery at all despite being squeaky clean! But best of all, the cleaner was totally cheap compared to those branded heavy-duty ones that don't deliver the same results!
Here's the last photo taken a week later after using the tub and shower scum buster:
See the dark, map-like stain? That's stubborn soap scum which I tried many commercial cleaners to get rid off but nothing! |
After rinsing and a little scrubbing, voila! The scum wasn't just gone, the tiles were squeaky clean! |
