Milli's Corner: Screaming Motivational Wall

Quitting recently from my 7-year desk job and becoming a full-time virtual contractor, I've found more time to pursue my passions in writing and handicrafts. And, naturally, more time to to get lost in Pinterest!

So I woke up this morning and thought of putting up "screaming" signs to get me off my "pinning" butt and finally work (and finish!) on writing the solo parent book I've started at the beginning of the year, start crocheting again to stock up our millicentmelissa Handmade Accessories online store, repopulate my blogs again and finalize details of my latest business venture with my soul sister Arlene.

My screaming wall opposite my work space

Hmmm...just got an idea from this. Maybe I could start making a fancy screaming wall which I could sell to Pinterest addicts like me! Facebook and Twitter addicts, too! LOL!

Now to add that new idea to my screaming wall...

Pinterest Project No. 7: Crochet Baby Sandies

Source: misadventuresofhandmade.blogspot.com via Millicent on Pinterest

Really loved this crochet baby sandies as soon as I saw them in Pinterest but it took me awhile before I started making them, beginning with my very good friend Arlene's order for a baptismal gift.

Here are the photos of some of the pieces I finished:

Inspired by the Pinterest pin above

How the pair was delivered as a gift :)
Here's another pair I made with a much lively color combo

Milli's Corner: How To Make A Vertical Photo Tutorial for Pinterest

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I'll be making a tutorial on how to make a vertical photo tutorial to get a lot of "repins" and "likes" in Pinterest.

After being a Pinterest addict and creating my boards and pins, I noticed that the pins with most number of "repins" and "likes" were the ones that showed the tutorial in one long vertical image. Tried to search the web for a tutorial but nada! So I decided to experiment a bit and the image came out good, not bad for a first try :)

So now I'm sharing with you other Pinterest addicts like me how I did it and hope to see your works on the boards!

Pinterest Project No. 6: Tub and Shower Scum Buster

Source: food.com via Millicent on Pinterest

I'm a believer!

Saw Food.com's Tub and Shower Magic Recipe in Pinterest and got intrigued by it especially when I have almost tried every cleaning agent there is in the market to get rid AND prevent those stubborn soap scum that builds up on the shower tiles.

I tried it using Jill of Onegoodthingbyjillee.com's recipe but with some tweaking:

Getting so hooked on origami because of Pinterest, took me a long time to make my own tutorial for this pretty Eight-point Origami Star I learned from Linn Vikra. Check her own tutorial here.

Milli's Corner: Good Use for Empty Ice Cream Cartons

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention! Lack of a brown paper bag made me look for an alternative to evenly coat and bread the chicken for deep frying and voila! Empty ice cream cartons!

Pinterest Project No. 4: Shampoo Free Week

Now I can truly say that I have indeed been brave! I survived a week of no shampoo for Pinterest's and blogging's sake!

For the uninitiated, allow me to explain. First of all, no shampoo doesn't mean I didn't take a bath for a week nor did it mean that I did not wash my hair at all. Otherwise, I would've ended up in the hospital :D Second, no shampoo means not using commercial shampoos to clean your hair instead, opting for natural hair cleaners.

Milli's Corner: How to Keep Buttons from Falling Off Clothes

http://www.flickr.com/photos/uhuru1701

One of the fashion emergencies most experience is losing a button from clothing and more often than not, you discover the missing button when you've already planned on wearing that shirt/ pants and of course, you don't have time to sew!

Pinterest Project No. 3: Mini Accordion Photobook

Checking out Ruth Bleakley's minibooks got me inspired to make an accordion photobook for my 3rd Pinterest project.

I thought of making a mini album of my nephew Asti's baby photos which his Dad Clarence could put in his wallet and bring anywhere with him.
